Live Music this Summer: Who They Are, Where Are They Playing?
Roll call! Who else is ready for some summer weather with a side of melodic jam sessions? We sure are! Get some craft brews ready (or a glass of bubbly, because you deserve it) and check out some live music when you visit Bozeman. Here’s the whos-who of visiting artists and local favorites in the BZN.
Big Names
Big names in the global music scene make their way to Bozeman on the reg. You’ll find stadium shows on the MSU campus or inside the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. Plus, get tickets for long nights of thumping bass at one of the main venues around downtown like the Rialto or the Ellen. You’ll also want to start some stoke for some of the biggest music festivals in Montana, held just down the road. Check the calendar on the Bozone Events page for even more shows to put in your calendar, but here are a few to get you started.
Built to Spill
Built to Spill will be in town to kick off summer on June 23 at the Emerson Center. This indie rock band from Boise, Idaho, will ease you into the evening with that liquid guitar goodness that keeps the tunes flowing through the air.
Big & Rich
Big names headline at Headwaters Country Jam every year, the venue at the bridge near Three Forks. Big & Rich is no exception. Save a horse, ride a cowboy and saddle up at Country Jam for their performance. Crack a cold one and get your festival glam on, ready to rock.
Kelsea Ballerini
You loved Kelsea Ballerini from when her first album dropped in 2015, and it only got better with her killer CMA performance this year. Headwaters Country Jam is the place to be once again when it comes to star-spotting. She’ll be at The Bridge this year, so don’t miss the performance.
Saliva
If you’re ready to headbang it out, check out Saliva this summer at the Rockin the Rivers music festival. Hang out in the field at the bridge, and get into the Billboard charts at the same time with plenty of live performances from amazing headliners.
Local Faves
There are just too many local artists around town to lay them all out there, so here are the best opportunities to hear some of Bozeman’s favorite musicians this summer.
Bogert Park
Bogert Park offers free City Band concerts on Tuesday nights in the summer. This is an easy stop for a chill evening on the grass listening to local musicians strum their stuff.
Music on Main
Get glammed up in summer short shorts or that too-cute romper and head out to Music on Main, the Thursday celebration of summer on Main Street. Food, booze and plenty of fun times make it worth pulling out that new outfit and going for a pedicure before the festivities start. Keep an eye peeled for some RSVP style as we are sponsoring the 2019 summer season for Music on Main
Peak to Sky Music Festival
Mike McCready of Pearl Jam fame brings you Peak to Sky, a day of world-class rock with a mountain backdrop in Big Sky, Montana. You can catch the bus up or charter a private driver and not have to worry about the evening road back to Bozeman. Once you’re back in town, round out the night with another round before you hit the boutique sheets at RSVP.
When the weather starts getting warmer there is plenty of tune-filled activities to keep your summer hopping, your beverages flowing, and keep your feet dancing. We hope you find some time to check out the awesome music events the Bozeman community has to offer.
