Huffing For Stuffing
This Thanksgiving Day 5K (okay, there’s a 10K too, but it takes a special kind of person to run that far with a stomach full of stuffing) will get you sweating off your turkey as soon as the starting pistol bangs. The best part is that the proceeds from Huffing for Stuffing go to help local families in need. Even if you just prefer to digest your dinner in peace, it’s worth coming out to watch the racers strut their stuff in wacky costumes as they make their way through town.
Bridger Bowl Torchlight Parade
Usher in the new year at Bridger Bowl, Bozeman’s premier local ski area, while you enjoy the starry lights of the torchlight parade. Held on December 30 each year, the procession winds its way down the slopes and finishes up with a fireworks display. Live music, a spaghetti dinner, and plenty of dancing at the lodge make this a winter night you’ll adore.
Bozeman Ice Festival
Don’t worry, you don’t need to be a world-class ice climber to come out for the Bozeman Ice Festival—there will already be plenty of those peeps turning out to compete in this December event. You can head up to Hyalite to scope out the premier ice climbing in the country. Or choose to stick around for the in-town events, like the Adventure Film Festival and brewery-hosted après climbs.
Downtown Christmas Stroll
At the annual Christmas Stroll in downtown Bozeman, hunt for Santa and find out whether you’re on the naughty or nice list while you scope out activities, food and fun on the streets of the BZN. Follow along with the lighting ceremony for town decorations, or check out carolers, Christmas shopping, and 40 food vendors. Set your calendar for early December, and get festive!
Winter Crazy Days
February gets a little crazy in downtown Bozeman, when winter Crazy Days hit the streets in February. Local businesses throw open their doors and toss goodies on the sale rack, with deeply discounted tidbits to enjoy all across town. Whether you’re hunting for high style, tasty treats or outdoor gear, you’ll find something special at Crazy Days.
Big Sky Pond Skim
It takes a special kind of wacky to participate in the Big Sky Pond Skim, where skiers fly down the mountain and skim across the pond. Most wind up swimming in the end! Gear up for this popular April event in advance to be sure to snag a spot at the festivities.
Winter Art Walk
Stroll the streets of Bozeman and take in the local arts at the Winter Art Walk. This December event offers up an opportunity to explore downtown, all while savoring hors d’oeuvres and other refreshments on offer in the galleries.
