Local Farmers Markets in the BZN
When it comes to locally grown produce and Made in Montana goodies, farmers markets are the best option out there for a sustainable shopping spree. You’ve gotta get your local love on when you’re in the BZN, so here’s your guide to our fave markets that run through the summer.
Bozeman Local
Bozeman has 2 different farmers market options to choose from during the summer. Stock up on fresh vendor-grown produce, enjoy live entertainment and check out handmade crafts twice a week during the traditional farmers market season.
Bogert Farmers Market
Bogert Farmers Market brings together the best of Bozeman on Tuesdays (from 5 to 8 pm, so set a reminder now!) from mid-June to mid-September. Though it’s usually held in the Bogert Pavilion, this year a heavy snowfall collapsed the roof of that open-sided event space, so the whole shindig has been moved to Lindley Park, on the east side of downtown, for the duration of the summer. You’ll find the same great vendors of food, produce and craft goods, just in a slightly different venue. Promoting local farmers and artists is the name of the game, all with a side of summer evening socializing under the big sky.
Gallatin Valley Farmers Market
Held in the Gallatin County Fairgrounds, the Gallatin Valley Farmers Market starts Saturday morning off right. You’ll find this collection of stands and stalls in the Haynes Pavilion. The goal is to promote developing home-based businesses, along with fostering the local economy, both causes we can all get behind. The energy is a great way to get your Saturday going, operating from 9 am to noon for your local arts, produce and food fix.
Further Afield
Who says you can’t step outside of city limits for a good market-going time? Here are our must-visits for farmers markets just outside of Bozeman.
Belgrade
Just down the road in Belgrade, community fun continues on Thursday nights from mid-July through mid-September at The Belgrade Community Market. The evening fun starts at 4 pm and carries on until 7 pm at Lewis & Clark Park, just in time to take your gourmet spoils down to the river and enjoy an evening picnic, bubbly in hand.
Big Sky
Up Gallatin Canyon through some of the most scenic driving on offer, Big Sky Farmers Market is celebrating its 11th anniversary in 2019 with delicious produce, tasty food from vendors and plenty of goodies you can gift or take home with you. Check it out on Wednesdays from June to September, 5 to 8 pm in Big Sky Town Center.
Livingston
Just on the other side of the Bridgers in the gateway to Yellowstone, Livingston’s Farmers Market is a hoot and a half on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 7:30 pm from the end of May through mid-September. Put on by the Western Sustainability Exchange, at this market you’ll find live music and special event days throughout the season.
Three Forks
At the Headwaters of the Missouri River, the town of Three Forks hosts its weekly farmers market on Thursdays from 4 to 7 pm. This is the quintessential small-town charm at the highest level, with the market held on the grass outside the old train depot as you head into town. It’s well worth a wander if you find yourself in the area.
Try hot spots like The Farmers Daughters or Rockford Coffee to get your caffeine fix before a long day of shopping and getting your farm-to-fresh on. There’s plenty to explore in Bozeman. Check out our blog to find out all the deets.
