Four Fab Places for Dinner in Bozeman
When it comes to dinner options in Bozeman, it’s all feast and no famine. Both vacay’ers and locals alike can take their pick of the dozens of fabulous restaurants, where Bozeman offers up a variety of killer dinner experiences. Whether you’re looking for family style that’s hearty, fresh, and home grown, or more of a small plate experience, featuring a smattering of unique tastes, Bozeman has you covered. There are so many fabulous options that if you let it, Bozeman can leave you with analysis paralysis and a heavy sense of FOMO. That’s why we’re narrowing it down to just a handful of our fave places in Bozeman to break bread.
CAFÉ FRESCO
Tucked quietly off of Mendenhall, this cozy little corner is the perfect dinner spot to hunker down with your sweetie and relax. If we had to sum up this place in one word, it would be ambiance. It’s dripping with it. Dim lit rooms welcome you into an intimate space of dark floors and white stone walls. Victorian oil paintings, gas lanterns and old church pews line the walls to create an atmosphere of, well, down-right romance. Dine here to dive into classic Italian dishes like Hand-rolled Ravioli, Pesto Cavatappi, or Lasagna Bolognese, just like Nonna used to make.
URBAN KITCHEN
One of the newer spots in Bozeman, Urban Kitchen also finds itself off the commonly trekked Main Street. From the moment you walk in the door, this spot boasts cool from every corner. Walls are covered in hand drawn chalkboard murals that illustrate some of the restaurant’s menu items. Those in search of a more casual evening that doesn’t sacrifice on flavor can grab a spot in the bar at a high top or a window seat, or if you’re feeling chatty, belly up to the bar and enjoy some local interaction. Otherwise, you’ll want to make a reservation at this buzzing Bozeman eatery. And while you can’t go wrong with a single item on the menu, our favorites are the Crispy Pork Belly to start, followed by a Maple Leaf Duck Breast that will change your life.
OPEN RANGE
Open Range has long been a classic when it come to a good Bozeman dinner. Nestled onto the East end of Main Street, Open Range offers a dinner experience that marries classic Montana cuisine with a modern American twist. With arguable the best steak in town on the menu, it’s hard for us to recommend you anything else. Seriously, it’s an experience you don’t want to miss out on. And while you come for the food at Open Range, you stay for the cocktails. Artisan crafted, these concoctions will leave you surprised and delighted with each sip. We suggest Queen Anne’s Revenge for those with a sweeter palette, The Name’s Joe for something a little more robust, or The Dealer’s Choice for the truly daring.
BARLEY & VINE
Another spot that’s graced Bozeman in the last year or so is Barley & Vine. Located in the old space where Over the Tapas was located, patrons looking for a simple menu that doesn’t over-complicate things have found their perfect match. Barley & Vine chooses to do just a few things—all of which they do really, really well. Start with the Frites and Fondue for something soul warming or go with the Brussels for a healthy choice that still feels like a splurge. When it comes time to choose your entrée, you really can’t go wrong, but we still suggest choosing a few different options. This is a small plate kind of place, and sharing is encouraged! Use the opportunity to create real community with your people by ordering a few plates and passing each around to share. Last but not least, don’t forget the wine, honey! There are plenty of exquisite bottles to choose from, or ask your server their suggested pairings.
