Big Summer Events in Bozeman
Locals, Montanans from farther afield, and out-of-state visitors alike can all get excited about these big summer events in the BZN. You should get your calendar out now to save the date. You won’t want to miss out on a great time!
Sweet Pea Festival
The Sweet Pea Festival brings together artists, musicians, foodies and thespians to celebrate the arts each August in Lindley Park. This festival is turning 42 years old in 2019, and that long-running life should speak for itself. Fun runs, parades, food trucks, art-walks, and picnics out on the grass make for a week of hippy-dippy fun (in the best possible way). Take home handmade goods to help remember your time in the Treasure State, and embrace the experience of celebrating summer at Sweet Pea.
Summer SLAM Festival
SLAM stands for something you’ll love: Supporting Local Artists and Musicians. Embrace the one-of-a-kind flair you’ll find at art booths spread across Bogert Park. Plus, it’s okay to get a little boozy when you’re drinking local brews and spirits to support the cause of Montana Made. Nosh on gourmet food truck offerings while you peruse the scene, and chill in the grass while musicians strum away on stage.
Bozeman Stampede
It’s time to trade stilettos for designer cowboy boots and kick up your heels with a honky-tonk hoedown at the Bozeman Stampede. Grab a cold drink and hit the stands early to snag a spot with the best view of the action. This is a nonprofit event to benefit local agricultural organizations, but you don’t need to dive deep into the cause to enjoy a wild time at this rodeo weekend. August is the perfect time to cool your heels and take in some bull riding and barrel racing before you round out the evening with bubbly by the pool.
Bozeman Film Festival
For avant-garde auteurs of cinema, the Bozeman International Film Festival should be at the top of your list. Enjoy regional premiers of a wide variety of offerings: from comedies to hard-hitting documentaries and everything in between. Enjoy this taste of high society in Bozeman, and experience a new perspective.
Cruisin’ On Main Annual Car Show
This car show is worth a summer road trip to Bozeman. Bring your own classic car and enter it in the festivities, rounding out with a cruise down Main Street where the 14 car classes strut as engines rev. All proceeds go to the Cancer Support Community, an even better reason to get involved. Even if you’re not entering your wheels into the competition, get ready to drool over the sleek bodywork and fine detailing on display.
Headwaters Music Weekends
Two weekends of music near the Missouri Headwaters are well worth the drive out of town. Rockin’ the Rivers and Headwaters Country Jam are frolicking festivals at the bridge. The festival grounds are located in a field just outside Three Forks near the confluence of the Missouri River, with a backsplash of an old railroad bridge dropped behind the main stage. Take your pick of world-class country or headbanging rock ‘n roll. The best part is, there’s no need to pitch a tent. Less than an hour from Bozeman, it’s no problem to head back to town for a bar-hopping after party and luxurious boutique Hotel stay.
